On May 6, Guizhou University (GZU) held a ceremony to mark the donation of archives and books by members of the Class of 1965, alongside the opening of a thematic exhibition at the University History Museum on the East Campus.

The event brought together university leadership, local scholars, and alumni. Attendees included Wu Pan, Vice President of Guizhou University; Tian Zongyuan, former Deputy Party Secretary of Zunyi Medical University; Yuan Junfeng, Vice President and Secretary-General of Guizhou Writing Society; Lei Guangren, former Director of the Zunyi Conference Memorial Hall; and Luo Yongfu, Vice President of Society of Zunyi Long March Research. Alumni donors Gu Sen and Huang Xianrong, along with more than 20 fellow alumni from the Classes of 1964 and 1965, also attended. The event was presided over by Zhou Yongxing, Director of GZU Archives and History Museum.

In his remarks, GZU Vice President Wu Pan welcomed the guests and expressed appreciation for their support. He noted that this year marks the 89th anniversary of the victory of the Long March, the 90th anniversary of the Zunyi Conference—a crucial turning point in the Chinese revolution that shifted the Party's strategic direction and saved the revolution from crisis—and the 60th anniversary of the enrollment of the Class of 1965. The donation and exhibition, organized in conjunction with International Archives Day, carry great significance in preserving GZU’s legacy. He expressed hope that the event would encourage more alumni and students to contribute to the university’s development and historical preservation.

During the ceremony, alumnus Gu Sen donated 26 volumes (in 11 different titles) of books to GZU library, including A History of Chinese Art: Qin and Han Dynasties, recipient of “Five-One Project Award” by the Publicity Department of CPC Central Committee. Alumnus Huang Xianrong donated more than 100 personal archival items from his time at Guizhou University. Wu Pan presented both alumni with certificates of donation and recognition.

The thematic exhibition, titled A GZU Student’s Long March: The Archives of Huang Xianrong, was also officially launched. Yao Hong, Deputy Director of GZU Archives and History Museum, introduced the exhibition, which features photos, diaries, certificates, manuscripts, and books donated by Huang. The display is divided into five sections, using images, texts, and artifacts to tell the story of one Guizhou University student's personal "Long March" and his deep connection to the spirit of the Long March.

As part of the event, Huang Xianrong met with student docents to share his insights and experiences, emphasizing the importance of tailoring historical interpretation to different audiences. He encouraged them to uphold the Long March spirit and convey the stories of Guizhou University—stories that embody the university's perseverance, innovation, and mission, echoing the revolutionary tenacity of the Long March. He also delivered a lecture on the Zunyi Conference for faculty and students.
